Virgo is offering some medicine. Can you swallow the pill?
This season asks you to face the facts to find your freedom

Hey everyone,
Each month, the Sun aligns with the Moon in the same part of the sky, which we call the New Moon. With the Moon sitting between Earth and Sun, the side we see remains in shadow. From our vantage point, the Moon is dark, if not totally invisible.
Symbolically, this is a brief time of gestation like a seed germinating in soil. We haven’t yet experienced what the seed will grow into, yet there is often an inkling as to what it may be if we’re willing to tune into its subtle energies.
At 12:24am CST on Saturday, August 23, the New Moon graced our sky at exactly 0º of Virgo. This means that as of Friday, we entered Virgo season.
Personally, I think this marks a pivot in the trajectory of 2025, a year that’s already been full of dramatic twists and turns. However, this Virgo season can be a much needed dose of medicine for our bodies, minds, and of course our souls.
The question is, are you willing to take the medicine? Are you willing to get specific about what part of your life needs some critical attention?
A big reason why this Virgo season marks a shift in the year is because the sky has been dominated by Fire (Saturn & Neptune in Aries, Mercury in Leo), Air (Pluto in Aquarius, Uranus in Gemini, Mars in Libra), and Water (Jupiter and Venus in Cancer, with Venus soon entering Leo). With Virgo season and this New Moon, we are finally introducing the element of Earth into the fold.
In other words, our consciousness has been driven by new and innovative ideas, passionate desires, bold expression, and lessons in emotional safety. This is a lot of activity happening on our mental, emotional, and spiritual planes of being. When we lack Earth energy, it feels like the rug has been pulled out from under us or like there’s no gravity holding us down.
What does this actually mean in our day-to-day lives? With no stationary ground, things fall out of place. And right now, this is not by accident. When a foundation crumbles, you have to rebuild. But in order to rebuild, you need to drop your extra baggage because it’s become dead weight. This is a time to embrace adaptability and become lighter on your feet so that you can move with the current. Otherwise, you’re going to be anchored down while life speeds on by.
One of the words I keep coming back to this year is surrender. Accept the fact that you can’t control everything, but you can control how you respond and react.
Virgo season is helping us to gain control. You have an opportunity to get analytical about your ideas and to lay out your plan to execute them. It’s a chance to take a firm grip of the reins and steer your chariot with steadier confidence. The road is still bumpy, but now there’s some light illuminating your path.
Virgo’s medicine comes from within. Others can only help you so much, but to truly help yourself you have to embrace the darker shadow sides of your existence. We all bury things we don’t want to face and we often do this for the benefit of others. But over time, your own system deteriorates until you’re left with no choice but to face the facts. And facing the facts is exactly what Virgo season is here for.
It’s the perfect time to home in on the details of your life’s blueprint. Start getting more specific about your needs and your desires. Leo season taught you to trust your instincts and now Virgo season needs you to rely on that self-trust. That self-trust may just be the wellspring of medicine you need in this very moment.
In two weeks, we’ll have a a lunar eclipse in Pisces followed by another New Moon in Virgo at the end of September. Back-to-back New Moons in the same sign is relatively rare but not unheard of. It’s going to be a potent month for beginnings and endings. Soon, we’ll be revisiting some themes from the beginning of this year when Saturn and Neptune retrograde back into Pisces and Uranus retrogrades back into Taurus.
Right now, I want you to stay focused on the ground in front of you, trust your path, and let the emotions that come with the territory be your teacher, not your burden. Get clear on what you need and commit to it.
Take care,
~Ry
